The end of 2015 and going into January 2016 has been full of new challenges that I am hoping that the rest of the year will prove just as fruitful.
It all started on LinkedIn, when a young guy named Tharindu from Sri Lanka contacted me and expressed his interest in the hospitality industry. He had an educational background in tourism and hospitality and he reached out to me and offered his help. I did a quick research about the tourism industry in Sri Lanka and notice it is the island’s major industry. Also, English is used throughout the island, which would make it helpful when communicating with the locals. I took him up on his offer and went running down to the UPS store with a bundle of brochures and laughing with their salesperson as we try to figure out how to get the brochures to Sri Lanka. I think the shipping of the brochures was cost more than their color printing.
Thinking about the different world markets and how Europe and the countries of that region are almost overexposed, it got me to thinking about other markets.
Next I wrote a post in a Bali Group on Facebook Page. And in the post I stated that I am looking for an agent who could help me find hotels or villas in Bali. Anyone that might be interested to send me an email. Within one day, I had a charming person named, Nafisah who contacted me offering her help and she has a background in sales and marketing. And even before I could send the brochures, she had me a new client.
